Dust or Marble?

“Write your injuries in dust, your benefits in marble.”  Benjamin Franklin

Obviously, there will always be injuries (mental, emotional, physical) and misfortunes. I think it is important to acknowledge them i.e. write them in dust. But dwelling on them and focusing on them exclusively can only cause more pain and kill hope.

An attitude of hope and expectation opens the door for improvement, the window for imagination.

The easiest way to practice this attitude is to appreciate positive aspects in one’s life, to write them in marble as reminder that good things can happen and have happened.
